The ADTRAN MX3 Chassis is the foundation for a family of data backhaul products. Supporting up to four DS3s, 28 DSX-1 drops, and two optional modules capable of processing up to six additional DS1s, the MX3 platform is well suited to a variety of applications. The MX3 Chassis houses two hot swappable controller modules that provide 1:1 redundancy for the DS1 and DS3 interfaces. The optional modules support a variety of non-redundant services.

Utilizing the MX3112 Controller Card, the MX3 chassis enables Ethernet service delivery over multiple bonded DS1 or E1 paths. Depending on the controller card, the MX3112 system bonds up to twelve DS1/E1 channels (MX3112 Controller Card, P/N 1189901L1) or up to sixteen DS1 channels (MX3112 Controller Card, P/N 1189901L2) into bonding groups to conduct Ethernet traffic from four 10/100Base-T Ethernet ports.

Utilizing the MX3208 Controller Card, the MX3 chassis interfaces to two coaxial DS3s and provides the ability to drop and insert up to 14 DS1 signals from either DS3 interface on the terminal side. Eight of the DS1s are accessible through the amphenol connectors on the back of the MX3 chassis as short haul DSX-1 signals. Six DS1s can be routed to the two expansion slots to allow custom system configuration at each node of the network.

Utilizing the MX3216 Controller Card, the MX3 chassis routes DS1s between the two DS3 interfaces with access to 22 DS1s at any node. The MX3216 Controller Card interfaces to two coaxial DS3s and provides the ability to drop and insert up to 22 DS1 signals from either DS3 interface on the terminal side. Sixteen of the DS1s are accessible through the amphenol connectors on the back of the MX3 chassis as short haul DSX-1 signals. Six DS1s can be routed to the two expansion slots to allow custom system configuration at each node of the network.
