Supports the following management interfaces:
- Craft (RS-232) port: Refer to "Front Panel Craft Port"
- Ethernet: The backplane ENET port operates at 10 Mbps, full-duplex
- RS-485: Use the backplane wire wrap pins to daisy-chain up to 16 chassis for management through a single host
- X.25/ADMIN: All 25 pins of the DB-25 port on the backplane are connected to the SCM to allow simultaneous ADMIN and X.25 access (requires a special Y cable)
- The SCM is the logical user interface to the OPTI-6100 chassis
- Modules are provisioned, alarm status is monitored, performance is queried, and tests of any module are initiated through the SCM
