Power distribution that remotely controls power to individual
outlets and monitors the aggregate power consumption.
APC s Switched Rack Power Distribution Units (PDUs) are premium
solutions to many of the power management problems seen in today s
IT environments. Some of the problems are unauthorized use of power
outlets, locked-up equipment, in-rush current, overloaded circuits,
and the need of remote access to power outlets in the rack. The
Switched Rack PDUs address these problems through individual outlet
control, power on and off delays, current monitoring, alarm
thresholds, and network management.
Individual outlet control allows users to turn outlets on, turn
outlets off, or recycle power to equipment, which can reboot
locked-up equipment and avoid unauthorized use of outlets. Power
delays allow users to determine the order in which equipment is
powered up or down. Utilizing the power delay feature will avoid
in-rush current, which can cause overloads. Monitoring the current
draw at the rack level is key to avoiding downtime due to
overloaded circuits.
The Switched Rack PDUs provide an aggregate current draw, which can
be viewed remotely or locally, via digital display. In addition,
alarms will be generated based on user-defined thresholds to alert
users of potential circuit overloads (NOTE: Currently available on
select models only.
Includes PDU, Installation guide, Rack mounting brackets and user
manual.
* Manageability
- Local Current Monitoring Display: The aggregate current draw per power
distribution unit is displayed on the unit via a digital display. The
local digital display helps installers avoid overloaded circuits by
providing a visible warning when the current draw is close to the
maximum amperage draw of the strip. (Available on designated SKUs
only).
- Alarm Thresholds: Define alarm thresholds in order to avoid overloaded
circuits. Network and visual alarms inform the user of possible
problems.
- Remote Management Capabilities: Full-featured network management
interfaces that provide standards-based management via Web, SNMP, and
Telnet. Allows users to access, configure, and manage units from remote
locations to save valuable time. Associated with this feature is the
ability to quickly and easily upgrade the firmware via network download
to installed units for future product enhancements.
- Remote Individual Outlet Control: Remotely manage outlets so users can
turn outlets off that are not in use (prevent overloads) or recycle
power to locked-up equipment (minimize costly downtime and avoid travel
time to equipment).
- Power Delays: Allows users to configure the sequence in which power is
turned on or off for each outlet. This helps avoid in-rushes at start-
up, which can cause overloaded circuits and dropped loads. Sequencing
also allows users to predetermine which piece of equipment is turned on
first so other equipment dependant on that unit will function properly.
- Flash Upgradeable: Quickly and easily upgrade firmware via network
download for future product enhancements. Eliminates the need to
replace products already installed in the field when new features are
released.
* Convenience
- 19 inch Rack-Mountable: Includes horizontal, vertical, and toolless-
mount varieties. Puts power where it is needed most - in the racks near
the equipment.
- Vertical Mounting Capabilities: Easily mounts vertically in racks or
enclosures and occupies zero U of valuable rack space, which allows
more equipment in the rack. Units that mount vertically are optimized
to fit in a NetShelter VX enclosures.
- Toolless Mounting Capabilities: Units do not require additional tools
to mount into APC's NetShelter VX, which allows the users to quickly
and easily mount units in the rear of the enclosure.
