The Arecont Vision AV3100M-STARTER is a network starter package presented as an all-in-one solution for high-end security applications requiring viewing and recording of super high resolution images over a network.
The package consists of the AV3100M 3-megapixel network camera, the AV100 network recording software and a 4-10mm varifocal lens.
Designed for multi-camera installations, the software application introduces powerful functions for both viewing and recording operations. It allows multiple cameras to be accessed by multiple clients for viewing images and for operating a camera's electronic PTZ functions.
Users can also select any camera to record its images to a video server over a network.
Ultra High Resolution Images
Equipped with a 3 megapixel CMOS sensor and utilizing AV's proprietary massively-parallel MegaVideo technology, this camera is capable of delivering cinema quality video with the sharpness and color accuracy normally associated with digital still cameras. Video is captured at up to 1280 x 1024 resolution and at speeds up to 22 FPS, resulting in images 10 times the resolution of the best analog CCTV camera.

- The key advantage of having a camera with such high resolution is the ability to greatly magnify a picture without suffering image degradation common to standard resolution cameras. This allows the use of a single camera to monitor an area normally requiring up to 10 analog fixed cameras.
- Simultaneous Viewing of Full Field and Zoomed Images (PIP)
- Working from a networked PC, a user can enlarge any selected area of the image in order to bring a person or object into close view. This magnified image is superimposed over the full image in PIP fashion. By recording the original image in super high resolution, this camera is capable of maintaining well defined images even under extreme digital magnification.
- PoE (Power over Ethernet)
- When used together with a PoE switch, this camera can be powered solely by its Ethernet cable. By using the same cable to transmit both data and power to the camera, this camera can be installed in areas inaccessible to a power outlet such as inside an outdoor housing or close to a ceiling. PoE also provides fail safe operation by having the ability to keep the camera operating in the event of a localized power failure.

- The camera uses a myriad of internal controls to help maintain image quality under low light conditions and tricky lighting situations. These include a multi-matrix white balance, flicker and blurring controls, a Bayer mosaic RGB filter as well as a dynamic range of 60 dB.

Built into the camera is a motion detection function adjustable for size and sensitivity and programmable for 64 separate zones. Additionally, this camera accepts external sensors to trigger an alarm alert or to activate a device following an alarm event.
Multi Camera Viewing
Working from a remote networked PC, a user can access up to 16 cameras for simultaneous viewing on a single monitor. Multiple cameras can be viewed in resolutions up to 1280 x 1024 and at speeds up to 30 FPS, depending on a computer's CPU speed. This program supports a maximum resolution of 2592 x 1944 for a single camera, displayed in full screen.
- Simultaneous Viewing of Full and Reduced Resolution Images
- A multi streaming function allows a user to view multiple cameras in reduced resolution mode at the same time high resolution zoomed images are being displayed from the very same cameras. Up to 4 zoomed windows from each camera can be transmitted as separate video streams.
- Motion Detection Based Recording
- Any camera can be selected to record its images to a video server over the network. Recording can be continuous or set to begin at a date and time or when motion is detected. Motion detection is fully programmable for area and sensitivity.
- AVI Video Maker
- Recorded images can be easily converted into AVI files for playback on any video player application.
- Remote Internet Access with Password Protection
- Once this program is installed on a PC, users will be able to access single or multiple cameras for live viewing and PTZ control from a remote location simply by logging on to an Internet browser. An elaborate password system is employed to provide protection from unauthorized use. Password protection is configurable for full access, viewing of live and archived footage or live monitoring only.
- Automatic Camera Recognition
- Once installed, this program automatically identifies, configures and assigns an available IP address to each camera.
